West Side Story Performance

Today I was walking the boardwalk in Mission Beach and noticed a very large group of young high school students. What caught my eye though was not the size of the group, but the outfits they were wearing... they looked like a Halloween parade. All the students were dressed up in crazy outfits. Some we wearing bumblebee costumes while others were decked out in neon tights, shirts and hats.

As I was approaching them, one of the girls handed me a flyer. The flyer pointed out that the students were from Clairemont High School and putting on a performance through the Theatre Arts Department. The performance, West Side Story, would be playing on four separate nights in February the 17th, 18th, 24th, and 25th. Show times vary as well as ticket prices.

So, my point here is that the students from the Theatre Arts Department at Clairemont High School are very proactive and inspiring. I’m proud of them all for being involved in a school program, not taking themselves too seriously, getting out and trying to bring a larger community together, and working hard to put on an excellent performance.

I encourage you and others to check the performance out. The money from the tickets helps support local education and extracurricular activities. A link below will send you to the schools website for more information. Feel free to contact me for information as well.
